Marija Strojnik Scholl, a Slovenian astrophysicist, uses optical technology in astronautics and space exploration. In her career, she has worked in the United States and Mexico and is one of the world's renowned scientists. In 1996, she was the first woman to receive the George W. Goddard Prize from the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) for the development of a navigation system.
