The word "black hole" was first used in American English in 1964 by journalist Ann Ewing in a report at a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The Slovenian Cosylab, a world leader in the development of control systems for scientific and medical particle accelerators, fusion reactors, radio telescopes and superpower lasers, took part in the creation of the first photograph of the black hole.
