In 1963, Slovenian company Elan founded the Innovation Institute, which only two years later delivered the first patented solution. Over the next decade, the Elan brand began to gain an important place in the industry, thanks to Swedish prodigy and ski legend Ingemar Stenmark. In the 1990s, Elan caused a major revolution: carving skis, which are probably the most important innovation in the modern ski industry. Innovations are also present in Elan's snowboards.
